THANKSGIVING COFFEE
Even though most people have this day off, there is plenty of work to do on Thanksgiving. I can remember getting up extra early to congregate with family eating super-sweet cinnamon rolls and drinking hot coffee as we prepared the day’s cooking schedule. Because we typically eat our big meal just afternoon, there’s plenty of time left at the end of the day to spend with lounging around with the family, watching football, or working on a puzzle. A little coffee after dinner is a necessity to stay awake.
The word thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude. I can’t think of a better human quality than kindness and granting thanks one of the easiest ways to offer it. This Thanksgiving, it is my hope our community will continue to offer kindness and be thankful for all the good we have achieved this past year. We’re heading straight into the holiday season, so it’s a great reminder to be on the lookout for opportunities to spread a little more love.
One way to spread some thanks is by giving gifts. Every year Reverie creates a coffee to be shared. We call it Christmas Cheer, and it ends up being one of the most popular offerings each season. Funny story, the first year we created our first holiday blend by accidentally mixing the wrong coffees together. It turned out quite tasty, so we ran with it! But this year, no happy accidents. We intentionally sourced three great coffees to make up a wonderful coffee and story.
Christmas Cheer is a Latin American blend of beans from Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Each coffee brings a unique characteristic to the cup resulting in a delightful cup sure to cheer your friends and family through the holidays. It’s a delicate balance of natural sweetness and warm winter flavors we associate with times like these.
The coffee reminds me of the faux gingerbread houses I used to make in grade school as a child, only we used graham crackers held together with marshmallow fluff on tiny milk cartons. I also taste dark chocolate shavings and roasted hazelnuts, two flavors I associate with the end of Thanksgiving Day when we are not so hungry but still feeling snacky. There were always bowls of fancy salted nuts and chocolates in the bar area of our kitchen making it easy to snag a treat every time I passed nearby.
Thanksgiving marks the beginning of my favorite time of year. I get to see family and friends more often than usual, wear warmer clothes and witness many random acts of kindness. It is also the time of year I intentionally look for ways to spread kindness by offering thanks to those around me. I hope you choose to do the same. One way may be to offer the gift of coffee you can share with friends this Thanksgiving.
If you’re thinking of giving the gift of coffee this holiday season, would you consider making it a gift from your friends at Reverie? We would be grateful to you for keeping your shopping local, and you’ll be supporting 33 hardworking people who work tirelessly to help our community thrive.
Happy Thanksgiving!
