And then there were two

Dear friends and fans of specialty coffee,

I’m writing to let you know that our little Café at the Kiva (Located in the lower level of the Garvey Center) will be closing permanently on the close of business, Friday, March 1st at 4:00 PM.

We’ve had fun experimenting with the small satellite location over the last 14 months. While we ended up with a beautiful space that is set up well for the next tenant, it just wasn’t the best fit for our business and we chose to create an opportunity to find the right group to take this spot to better places.

The entire process of working with the folks at the Garvey Center had been a great process. It was humbling to be sought after by their team. I was curious to know if a specialty coffee shop would do well in a place of work and residence, and we gave it our best, considering all the other opportunities we were given simultaneously.

We opened the Reverie Cafe at the Kiva location on Jan 8, 2018. Five weeks later, we relocated our flagship location and roastery to the new buildings located at Douglas and Madison. Four months later, on June 16, we opened our Café at the Library. In all honesty, we bid on and bit off a little more than we could chew.

Kiva was a hidden gem of a coffee business. It became home to many of our customers who were seeking a little quieter place to hang out. While we are sad to see it go, we are excited to pour the extra attention back into the Madison and Library locations, as they are doing quite well and could use a little more focus. We have seen tremendous growth the last year, and we are grateful to continue serving our customers in these locations, as well as throughout the city through our wholesale specialty coffee program.

As always, thank you for your support. Though we are closing the door on a small chapter in our big storybook, we are still committed to our community and to the people we serve. Our motto, Together Coffee, is still relevant more now than ever today.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, feel free to reach out to me directly. I’m always happy to discuss it with you.

Sincerely,
Andrew Gough
