Introducing REVERIE IMPACT CINEMA

Every now and again I initiate a project because of a random idea (all alone in my head). And after weeks of agonizing planning and dealing with all that life threw at me, I start to wonder if maybe this idea isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Well, that’s NOT the case here! This is a story about how one business owner can harness the personal interests of a team member to engage in new ways that add value to their work experience at Reverie.

That person is Monica. After watching the release of her first feature film, Meet Me at Magic Hour, released at the 2024 Tallgrass Film Festival to a huge audience of local and international movie fans and filmmakers, I started to think about how Reverie could inspire our communities….our staff, customers, neighborhood, East High, Wichita, the local coffee industry, and our suppliers…to work together to help inspire and create a better place for us to live, work, and play.

After the festival, I checked in with Monica to discover her interest in taking on a role to curate films for a cause. The idea was to host a monthly film series, highlighting relevant topics each month in conjunction with an area non-profit organization. My interest was to connect customers and staff with community conscious movie fans so we could make new introductions at this unique intersection of our society.

It wasn’t hard to convince Monica to jump in the project. Besides being a filmmaker, she is a wonderful talented Reverie barista and a student at Wichita State University studying film. A few meetings later we rolled out the Reverie Impact Cinema, a monthly film series featuring community partners and entertaining and engaging films in one of the most unique theaters in the city, The Tallgrass Film Center.

The first of our new series is Thursday, March 13, 2025. The doors open at 6:30PM, and the shows will begin at 7:00PM. Monica has chosen Lady Bird for our inaugural event in celebration of Women’s History Month. Our featured community partner is ICT SOS.
