Reverie Coffee Roasters Launches “25,000 Cookies” Holiday Campaign to Support Hope 4 Da Hood
Wichita, KS — December 9, 2025
Reverie Coffee Roasters is launching an ambitious holiday fundraising campaign to bake and sell up to 25,000 cookies in support of the Wichita-based nonprofit Hope 4 Da Hood, an organization dedicated to helping individuals break cycles of gang involvement, addiction, and incarceration.
The campaign is inspired by the powerful story of Peazy, a baker at Reverie, who went from gang involvement, homelessness, addiction, and incarceration to sobriety, stable housing, earning his culinary arts degree from WSU Tech NICHE, and now serving as a mentor through Hope 4 Da Hood. The organization played a pivotal role in helping change the trajectory of his life.
The goal of the campaign is to raise $50,000 by December 31, 2025, which will qualify for a 2-for-1 matching grant from the Stand Together Foundation, dramatically increasing the organization’s impact heading into 2026. Reverie is donating two-thirds of all funds raised directly to Hope 4 Da Hood, with $2 from every cookie sold going straight to the nonprofit.
Cookies will be sold by the dozen at $36 per dozen and feature Reverie’s signature Rye Chocolate Chip Cookie — a 4.5-inch, scratch-made cookie packaged with ribbon for holiday gifting. Orders may be placed through a special campaign website with scheduled pickups beginning around December 12, 2025. Bulk and corporate orders are available by contacting Reverie directly.
“This is about far more than cookies,” said Reverie founder Andrew Gough. “It’s about showing what’s possible when people are met with support, accountability, and community instead of judgment. Peazy’s story is proof that redemption and transformation are real — and Hope 4 Da Hood is making that happen every day in Wichita.”
Fidelity Bank has issued a corporate challenge to other community leaders offering to purchase 400 dozen (4,800) cookies to distribute to local non-profits if Reverie is successful in securing a match of 400 dozen cookies.
The campaign also aims to raise public awareness around the systemic challenges of gang violence, addiction, and reentry, while generating significant new funding to expand Hope 4 Da Hood’s life-changing outreach in the coming year.
For ordering information, bulk purchases, or campaign details, visit the campaign ordering site or contact Reverie Coffee Roasters directly.

This year has been an exciting year for Reverie Coffee Roasters! First of all, winning a gold medal on The Pope's Choice and Uganda Rwenzori Silverback at the Aurora International Taste Challenge. Second, we were awarded a bronze medal for The Pope's Choice K-Cups at the Golden Bean Competition. Winning these awards was exciting and a showcase of our lead roaster's hard work. Kat does a great job of selecting our coffees and finding the correct profile to target when roasting. One thing we didn't expect this year was to be nominated for the 10 Best Independent Coffee Shops in America, and to be chosen in the number 10 spot! We made the list! This nomination and the resulting vote of confidence mean the world to us, because it is your voice! The voice of Wichita and the voice of all of you outside of Wichita, Kansas, that support us and what we are doing. Thank you!

10 Best Independent Coffee Shops
You are the best customers a business could ever hope for. You are kind, considerate, and love coffee just as much or more than we do. With that, we would be honored if you’d let us know something we are doing right. It could be your favorite things about Reverie Roasters or your favorite bag of coffee that you have purchased. Let us know in the comments below!
Espresso Can Be Fruity?
Espresso, you either love it or you don’t. I can understand, espresso can be intense and sometimes just better with some milk. When making espresso, you can use any coffee you choose, but not all coffees are created equal as espresso. I have found some great fruity light roast coffees that taste too bright as espresso, and are not very pleasant; but what if the coffee could be? And they can! I just discovered Allonge shots, which is a word in French that means “to draw out”, and in this instance, a long shot of espresso. The Italians have a Lungo, which is also a long shot, but the preparation is different. Allonge is made with coffee that is a little coarser than a traditional espresso shot. Which means the shot will pull fast and may not look good. Don’t let the looks fool you, Allonge shots are phenomenal and help open light-roasted, fruit-forward coffees. You will taste things in the coffee that are not present in a Ristretto shot and are more pronounced than in drip coffee.
How do you make Allonge? Allonge is designed to be brewed with a Decent, a brand of espresso machine, and was created by Scott Rao, as seen by The Real Sprometheus. The difference between my shots and Sprometheus' is I did not have blonding as much as he did. I have taken his ratio of coffee to water and the grind size of the coffee. The espresso machine I used is the La Marzocco GS3, and I feel that a little work with any machine that has a water reservoir of more than 100 grams can be used. You will need to play with the grind setting and, if need be, add a little hot water to the drink after it is finished. It is all a matter of taste and finding what tastes best for you. The recipe is simple: 18 to 20 grams of coffee, in an 18 or 20-gram filter basket, and an ending product weight of 90 to 100 grams. Make sure to grind your coffee coarser than you would normally do for espresso, and time the shot to end at 28 to 30seconds. The ratio is 1:5 (Coffee: Water), and you could try 1:7. The idea is to have a light and fruity coffee that has fruity, floral, and sweet flavors. The drink will be between an espresso shot and drip coffee. Make sure the coffee doesn’t taste sour or overly bitter. I have found that Ethiopia Keramo and Caturdays are the best coffees on our shelf or online store for Allonge. If you have an espresso machine, try this method and let me know what you think. What kind of changes did you make to the recipe to meet your tastes? I will continue to play and share my findings.
